Third Date
Nate looked sideways at Destiny as she walked barefoot into the room. "Is something… um, wrong, dear?"
"Of course not, everything is wonderful." She smiles confidently.
"Are you sure?" He looks incredulously at her.
"Absolutely," she states too quickly, "Why do you ask?" A hint of concern strikes her voice.
"… … … You have a tail." He points at the bottom of her dress.
"What? Eeep!" And there it was, covered in short white fur with a black tip, curling up from just behind her bare feet.
"Why do you have a tail?" he asks as she moves to cover the extra appendage. As she bends over, he sees her feet reshaping, little hairs, white and black, appearing on the skin. "Darling!! What?!!"
"No, no, not now, please!" Her last words are cut off as she looks up at him, her face changing shape before his eyes; her own eyes expanding, the pupils becoming sharp slits. Tears form around these new feline eyes as long, thin whiskers poke out of her cheeks. Her nails, both on her toes and fingers, extend as hands and feet reshape slightly into delicate yet powerful paws. Her nose turns up slightly as her mouth becomes more of a maw. However, her long, silky black hair remains pulled back into a pony tail.
He takes a step back as her asks, "What's happening to you?"
Her body shutters once more before she is able to speak through pointed teeth, a voice coarse with anger and shame, "I didn't think I would change back so fast."
"Change… back?"
The green eyes look imploringly with into his brown, "I just wanted a normal life. I'm sorry."
He kneels down, touching her furry cheek with a tentative hand, "This is incredible."
"I'm so ugly," a helpless, involuntary, meow escapes her lips.
"No, you are beautiful. I mean… incredibly beautiful."
"Really?" The word comes weighted with all of her hopes and wants.
"Of course. I love you. Always, no matter… no matter what." He takes her paws in his hand and helps her stand up, "Now, tell me what this is about."
"I'm not a real person. I was made, years ago by a bad man, but I escaped. I learned how to change my appearance, so I could hide." He notes as she speaks how much shorter she is now, with a preposition to hunch forward slightly. "I just wanted to blend in. I didn't mean for… for us, you know. I didn't mean to fall in love."
